Our network of vetted and accredited installers register and pay for the Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) on your behalf. The IBG offers protection in the event your installer ceases to trade and is unable to honour their written workmanship guarantee. *
The IBG covers domestic installations for properties used for residential purposes, such as your home. Your selected Installer can choose varied durations of IBG to match the duration of their own workmanship guarantee.
Your selected installer may also be able to safeguard a deposit payment that you have paid to them with deposit insurance. The deposit insurance is limited to a maximum of 25% of the installation contract value, up to a maximum amount of £5,000.*

An Insurance Backed Guarantee, or IBG as it is commonly known, offers valuable protection for both installers and homeowners. When an installer provides an IBG to a homeowner, it boosts their confidence, as they know that they are protected in the unlikely event of the installer ceasing to trade.
The IBG underwrites the installers workmanship guarantee and can provide cover (depending on the trade type) for up to 25 years. Qualitymark Protection Accredited Installers can purchase IBGs to cover over 150 different home improvement types, including Insulation, Roofing, Heating, Renewable Technologies, Windows and Doors.
We have created a short video which briefly explains the purpose of an insurance backed guarantee…
Normally, before an installation commences, consumers make an upfront deposit payment to their installer. In the event that the installer ceases to trade before the installation has either begun or has been completed, usually the money that they have paid is lost. Our deposit protection provides insurance cover to help prevent this from occurring.
Deposit payments can be protected up to 25% of the installation contract value or £5,000 (whichever is lesser).
Deposit protection lasts for up to 90 days from the contract signed date. *
All prospective Accredited Installers are required to demonstrate that they are competent, have a solvent business and install products for which they carry the relevant certification and experience.
Successful applicants who are accepted as an Accredited Installer are regularly monitored to ensure that they are financially solvent and that they have kept up to date with their relevant certification.

Before obtaining the status of a Qualitymark Protection Accredited Installer, installers most first undergo our vetting and accreditation procedure. All successful applicants that make it through this process are then subject to regular audit checks, which consist of the following:
If you are unhappy with our service, we have a complaints procedure, details of which are available upon request. If you are unhappy with how your complaint has been dealt with, you may be able to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk).
* These are just some of the cover limits and features of the insurance policies that we can arrange. We are not the insurer and cover is subject to the insurer’s full policy terms and conditions. Not all selected installers can purchase deposit protection. If you would like to know more about the features, benefits, exclusions, and limitations of the policies we offer, please feel free to contact us.
