Protecting Homeowners

Our network of vetted and accredited installers register and pay for the Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) on your behalf. The IBG offers protection in the event your installer ceases to trade and is unable to honour their written workmanship guarantee. *

The IBG covers domestic installations for properties used for residential purposes, such as your home. Your selected Installer can choose varied durations of IBG to match the duration of their own workmanship guarantee.

Your selected installer may also be able to safeguard a deposit or stage payment that you have paid to them with deposit and stage payment insurance. The deposit and stage payment insurance is limited to a maximum of 25% of the installation contract value, up to a maximum amount of £5,000.*

What Is An Insurance Backed Guarantee?

An Insurance Backed Guarantee, or IBG as it is commonly known, offers valuable protection for both installers and homeowners. When an installer provides an IBG to a homeowner, it boosts their confidence, as they know that they are protected in the unlikely event of the installer ceasing to trade.

The IBG underwrites the installers workmanship guarantee and can provide cover (depending on the trade type) for up to 25 years. Accredited Installers can purchase IBGs to cover over 100 different home improvement types, including Roofing, Insulation, Boilers, Glazing, Renewable Technologies and Kitchens.

We have created a short video which briefly explains the purpose of an insurance backed guarantee…

Deposit & Stage Payment Protection For Home Improvements

Normally, before an installation commences, consumers make an upfront deposit or stage payment to their installer. In the event that the installer ceases to trade before the installation has either begun or has been completed, usually the money that they have paid is lost. Our deposit & stage payment protection provides insurance cover to help prevent this from occurring.

Deposits & stage payments can be protected up to 25% of the installation contract value or £5,000 (whichever is lesser).

Deposit & stage payment protection lasts for up to 90 days from the contract signed date. *

What Are The Benefits Of Using A Qualitymark Protection Accredited Installer?

Qualitymark Protection Accredited Installers can provide you with financial protection to safeguard a deposit or stage payment made to them. The Accredited Installer can also provide you with an IBG to protect you in the event they cease to trade and are unable to honour their written workmanship guarantee. *

Vetted & Accredited Installers

Before obtaining the status of a Qualitymark Protection Accredited Installer, installers most first undergo our vetting and accreditation procedure. All successful applicants that make it through this process are then subject to regular audit checks, which consist of the following:

If you are unhappy with our service, we have a complaints procedure, details of which are available upon request. If you are unhappy with how your complaint has been dealt with, you may be able to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk).

* These are just some of the cover limits and features of the insurance policies that we can arrange. We are not the insurer and cover is subject to the insurer’s full policy terms and conditions. Not all selected installers can purchase deposit & stage payment protection. If you would like to know more about the features, benefits, exclusions, and limitations of the policies we offer, please feel free to contact us.
